The Heathkit rigs were made before digital meters were common. Any
circuit with a diode in it will seldom show the correct resistance value
if it states reversing the leads. There is not enough voltage in most
digital meters to bias the diodes into conduction.

You probably should have more value capacitance when you replaced the
150 mfd with 100 mfd. The old Heathkit gear has a bad problem with the
1/2 watt resistors . Many of them drift high in value over the years.
