And legend has it that "boatanchor" was first used in CQ during the days
when Wayne was editor.
I saw the letter, and then the comment at the end about "boatanchor" so it
might be true, though I don't know if the term derives from there, or was
used previously. That was back when it definitely meant big and heavy,
and maybe useless. By the time became really common, nobody would be
offering to use the equipment as a boatanchor since it actually was
desirable equipment.
