Can't anyone use common sense?

The post you are replying to is from March 2009, four years ago. Not only
is it very likely he no longer has it, either sold or tossed into the
garbage, but chances are very slim that he's still reading the newsgroup.

Since he was trying to sell something, he probably never lasted longer
than that ad, indeed he probably never stuck around to see if anyone
replied, he saw the newsgroup as a buy and sell newsgroup (it isn't) so
there was no reason to wait around.

So you've resurrected an old thread, and can't even be bothered to quote
what you are replying to. Except too many idiots are replying to old
messages (so it's fairly obvious to some of us) it looks like you are
talking to yourself, since the original message is long gone. Google
isn't usenet, and just because they still have that bug allowing for
replies to messages older than 30 days doesn't mean you should reply.

Don't reply to old messages. Even if you did, don't leave out the
quoting.

If you want something, then post about it, don't resurrect an old thread.
Post about how you'd like to buy one of these.

Keep in mind that the late seventies is hardly a "boatanchor". It hasn't
got tubes (except maybe in the final), it's not really heavy, it's not
really old.

FInally, since you aren't providing traffic here to lure people so they
stick around to read your ad, don't bother posting here. FInd the places
with the high traffic, specifically the high traffic buy and sell places,
and post there. Because most people were never here in the first place,
they only came to sell their junk (including all the off-topic junk), and
virtually everyone else has left, leaving very few people who might
actually have what you are asking for in your off topic ad.

How do you know this? I searched the header and didn't find 2009
anywhere. Other than just the tone of the message, how can we tell when
someone is responding to an old message?

Thanks,
